Pattaya real estate purchase paves way for waterpark
Turner Broadcasting System Asia has made a 35 rai Pattaya real estate purchase, with the intention of building the world’s first Cartoon Network theme park in Thailand. The company is the Asian division of Turner Broadcasting System, the company that established CNN, and is now a subsidiary of the corporate media conglomerate Time Warner. The company also owns the Cartoon Network, the children’s channel that owns the rights to many of the most familiar animated characters including Bugs Bunny, Scooby Doo and the Flintstones.
The Pattaya real estate purchase is the first stage of the projects development which will see the cartooned-theme waterpark open sometime in 2013. The project is being developed by Amazon Falls Co, a Thai company specialising in the development of high level attractions and resorts. The park will include some of the world’s most thrilling water rides – including a wild river adventure and a series of speed racing slides. There will also be an enormous wave pool for families to enjoy. One of the central features of the park is an interactive water fortress, which is sure to delight children and is pre-billed as one of the largest in the world. Speaking about the development, Sunny Saha the managing director of Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific said ‘Cartoon Network is all about the fun and energy of the playground, and the addition of Cartoon Network Amazone means that families can literally step into our vibrant world of animation and vacation with their favourite characters like never before’.

The Pattaya real estate investment and waterpark development has been warmly welcomed by Thai officials and tourist chiefs.
